An 11 year old Lodi boy was struck by a truck driven by a hit and run driver Thursday evening. The boy was crossing Lodi Avenue at Cherokee Lane when a pick-up truck rounded the corner and struck him. The boy was taken to UCD hospital in critical condition. The red truck was described as an 80's or 90's GMC or Chevrolet with a white stripe on the bottom and a toolbox in the back.

Police asked anyone with information to call the department at (209) 333-6727. Anonymous calls may be made to Lodi-Area Crime Stoppers at (209) 333-6771.

Many cases which we handle involve hit and run drivers. Oftentimes, after extensive investigation, the responsible driver can be found. Even if he is not, however, the uninsured motorist policy of the parents and/or other adults in the same household as the child may provide coverage for the damages.
